MenardRescue.com - Home page of the Menard County, IL Rescue Squad The Menard County Rescue Squad is a non-profit organization that serves the citizens and visitors of Menard County, Illinois. Menard County consists of the towns and villages of Petersburg, Athens, Greenview, Oakford, Rock Creek, Tallula, Sweetwater, Fancy Praire, and Atterberry. Members of the Menard County Rescue Squad are all volunteers. These volunteers are dedicated to serving the citizens and visitors of Menard County. In an effort to provide the most up to date services, training, and equipment available, the squad has to rely solely on donations and fund-raisers to support this organization. Currently the squads fleet consists of 5 trucks, 3 boats, and a ATV Gator. Two of the trucks are equipped with extrication equipment used in motor vehicle accidents and other accidents that involve entrapment. One of those trucks is also equipped with a portable cascade system for filling air bottles. One truck is set up for our dive team and their equipment, one as a mobile command center, and the last one is set up with an electrical generator and extra cribbing. We have two older boats, with the newest one being purchased earlier this year to fit our needs more effectively. The ATV gator is used for hauling air bottles, helping with searches in rural areas, or moving someone closer to an access point for treatment if they are injured.
